8. Showing Up Early
You might think arriving early to a party shows enthusiasm and respect, but it can actually be disruptive. Hosts usually plan to be ready for guests at the specified start time, so arriving too early can catch them off guard.
Do this instead: Unless the host specifically asks you to come early, wait until the designated start time. Arriving just a few minutes late is often more considerate, giving the host time to make final preparations. Remember, punctuality is appreciated, but too much early arrival can be inconvenient.
9. Showering Someone with Compliments
Compliments can be tricky. While they seem polite, excessive or personal compliments can make people uncomfortable. For example, commenting on someone’s weight loss may inadvertently suggest they didnāt look good before.
Do this instead: Offer sincere, appropriate compliments and pay attention to the person’s reaction. Be genuine and maintain good eye contact. Avoid compliments that might be interpreted as negative or overly personal.
